How to Install Mods or Plugins (GlassHosting Guide)
Installing mods or plugins on your server is easy with GlassHosting. Follow the steps below based on the game you are hosting.
Minecraft Servers
Minecraft servers support either plugins, mods, or both**, depending on the server type (Paper, Spigot, Fabric, Forge, etc.). If you are unsure which mod loader you are using, see the notes at the end of this guide.
1. Stop Your Server
Always stop your server before making file changes. This prevents corruption and ensures new files load correctly.
2. Upload the Files
Use the File Manager or SFTP to upload the appropriate files:
-
Plugins: upload
.jarfiles to -
Mods: upload
.jarmod files to
3. Restart the Server
After uploading your files, restart your server to apply the changes.
Most mods and plugins will generate configuration files on the first startup.

2. Add the Resource to server.cfg
Open your server.cfg file and add the following line, using your resource’s folder name:
(Replace resourceName with the exact folder name.)
3. Restart the Server
Restart the FiveM server to load the new resource.
Check the console for errors if a resource fails to start.
Which Mod Loader Should You Use?
If you are unsure which platform your server needs, here is a quick reference:
-
Plugins only: Spigot, Paper, Purpur
-
Mods only: Fabric, Forge
-
Mods + Plugins: Arclight, Magma, Mohist
-
Vanilla gameplay: No plugins or mods
Choosing the correct loader ensures compatibility and prevents crashes.
