How to Start Valheim on GlassHosting: Ports, Password, and World Saves
GlassHosting runs Valheim dedicated servers for co-op Viking survival. You get always-on hosting with game panel control — Glass Gaming powered by GlassHosting.
1. Order and open the game panel
After checkout, open your Valheim server in the GlassHosting game panel. Note the allocated IP and game port. Valheim uses UDP on the game port and the next two consecutive ports (port, port+1, port+2).
2. Set server name, world, and password
In the panel startup / configuration variables:
- Set a clear server name friends will recognize.
- Choose a world name (this becomes your save identity).
- Set a password friends will use to join. Keep it shareable with your group only.
- Optionally enable crossplay if your egg exposes that option.
3. Start the server
Click Start. Wait until the console shows the world loaded and the server listening. Friends join from the Valheim in-game Join Game / IP join flow using your IP, port, and password.
4. World save basics
- World files live under the server file system (typically the worlds folder). Download via the panel File Manager or SFTP before big experiments.
- Changing the world name starts a new world — keep the same world name to continue progress.
- Use panel stop/restart for clean shutdowns so saves flush. Optional backup add-ons help retain copies.
5. Ports checklist
Forward or allow UDP for the assigned game port and the two following ports. TCP is not the primary path for Valheim gameplay.
